I don't think so. If I remember right, there was another memory card
which Apple supported for the standard //c and memory expansion. It
was called a slinky card. I haven't used those much. I have used the
Zram in older //c's. The only way to tell is to actually open the case.
The zram card sits towards the front of the //c. There are 2 chips which
you (gently) remove from the motherboard. One is the cpu and the other
is the mmu. These chip sockets will need to line up with the mounts on
the zram card. The zram should be marked, mine was. Should this work,
you also need to make sure you have enough clearance. In the original
zram, you had to remove the keyboard brace which clipped to the bottom
of the keyboard. This made the newer keyboards a little weak. I lucked
out and had a keyboard with the metal base handy. After removing the
brace, you had to select the proper pegs which propped up the zram from
the mother board and propped the keyboard from the zram. And if all of
that works out, you should be fine. All you'll need will be the software
to use it. At least the prodos ram disk driver, but there is Appleworks
expanders, Pascal ram disks, dos 3.3 ram disks.
I should mention, the cpu/mmu sockets are on the right side of the Zram.
If you open the //c case, be careful with the back cover, it has some
little
plastic clips which love to break. The trick is to gently work the center
loose and pull it out slightly and then work on one end. Once you have
one end out, it gets easy. You can remove the back panel with out removing
any of the screws. When you have the back panel out, flip the computer
over and remove 6 screws. Two are on the back by the handle (not the drive
screws which are close to them) the other 4 are along the front edges and
are recessed into the case.
I remember reading an article where a couple of hackers converted the //c
slinky model to support both the slinky card, mounted from the bottom
and the Zram on the top, so anything's possible.
