This may be hard to do in the case, I usually do it with bare drives, but
here goes:
The objective is to budge the platters a bit, so I try to use their mass. I
grasp the drive firmly from above, and give it a pop with my wrist. The idea
is to rotate the drive in the plane of the platters and stop it suddenly,
using the inertia of the platters to move them. This is hard on your wrist,
so have someone strong do it.
