: You would need both cards, since neither of Apple's 3.5" controllers

I do have a IIgs as well - but it's supposedly just for the
BBS (if and when I ever get the cable made). But the main
things is that I started with the IIe and it has always
remained my first love. I've spent an inordinate amount of
money on the IIe - over 4,000 dollars (CDN) over the last
decade and a half (almost) with absolutely no provable
justification (as far as the wife is concerned!); but my
IIe is my baby and it gets all the (remaining) A2 attention
I give to this side of my hobby - the IIgs is just a IIgs
and is mostly neglected (no offense meant to IIgs fans!) as
I'm not as familliar with it. It's got a HD, extra RAM (2
meg, I think), GS/OS 5 and not much else and it boots into
ProDOS, for the (8-bit) BBS software anyway - why bother
with the extra overhead of GS/OS when ProDOS uses much less
memory? I don't even boot GS/OS unless I need to use ShrinkIt
GS - for me, there's no other reason to use it. That's not
to say the GS couldn't be so much more - I know it can. It's
just not required, nor a focus, in my hobbying, at present.
That may or may not change - time will tell; but in the
meantime - it's the IIe all the way, baby . . .
