I would have to trace it out, but I would imagine the voltages, a clock
signal or two, reset line, interrupt line, speaker output. Stuff they can
monitor to see if the board failed.
I know the //c (I think....) had an LED on the edge of the board that was
hooked to the speaker output. When the board was in continous self test, the
speaker would emit a loud sound, which would light the LED. When the board was
in a test rack, (without a speaker, of course...) with many others, all they
had to do was look at the LED, and know the board was still running the self
test.
