Nope. Power Macintosh models never had auto-inject drives. Ever since
the first model, the 6100/60, any Mac with a PPC processor has used the
manual-inject drive.
As for your other machines, my guess is (a) they're broken, or (b) the
original drive was replaced with a manual-inject model. My LC II, LC
III, Classic, and Centris 610 are non-PPC, and they all have working
auto-inject drives.
