Unimplemented trap at startup

I'm running OS 9.0 on a 6500/225 PPC and suddenly
I'm unable to startup without an unimplemented
trap error.  Starting without extensions does not
help.  Starting from the OS CD results in a
visible desktop but without a functioning cursor
(mouse) and keyboard.

Could this be a hardware problem, or is there
another way to startup so I can run a diagnostic
or re-boot the OS?
