There were an entire family of 6500 CPU chips:

	pins	memory	clock
6501	40	64KB	external	6800 pin compatible

6502	40	64KB	internal
6503	28	4KB	internal	no SYNC/RDY/phi1/SO
6504	28	8KB	internal	no SYNC/RDY/phi1/SO/NMI
6505	28	4KB	internal	no SYNC/phi1/SO/NMI
6506	28	4KB	internal	no SYNC/SO/NMI
6507	28	8KB	internal	no SYNC/phi1/SO/NMI

6512	40	64KB	external
6513	28	4KB	external	no SYNC/RDY/SO
6514	28	8KB	external	no SYNC/RDY/SO/NMI
6515	28	4KB	external	no SYNC/SO/NMI

The 6501 was pulled due to legal action by Motorola.

Rockwell made some interesting 65xx CPU chips:

R65C02	R65C102	R65C112	The 102 has a quatrature clock phi4 like the 6809's Q.

R65C00/21 and R65C29	Dual enhanced R6502 in one package
