The Apple IIe and IIc have what is called the MouseText
character set which is analogous to the ANSI character
set of the IBM PC. It is made up of symbols that can,
when used together, produce a text version of the "Mac"
interface. For example, one symbol is an Apple for the
menu bar. One symbol is an arrow pointer for the
mouse pointer. One symbol is an hour glass for the
wait cursor. I think there's also two characters which,
in some Apple II models, would make an animated
running man if rapidly flipped. There's also check
marks for check boxes, a symbol that can be used
for the "filling" of a thermometer, and much more.

I've seen some very nice MouseText ASCII art on old
Apple BBSes, but I do not have them stored and the
BBSes no longer exist.

The Apple IIe and IIc text modes are monochrome
and either 40x25 or 80x25. The 80x25 mode is the
preferred one.
