The Disney Soundsource may have been released for other computers; but,
the only version I've seen is the one for PC. It connects to the PC parallel
output port usually used for a parallel printer (e.g. "LPT1").
The Soundsource mainly has an input to turn it ON/OFF (to conserve the the
9V battery) and some kind of sound input--- just a minute ...
Okay; took ours apart. It has a good quality 3" speaker, volume control,
and a small circuit board. There are just two input lines plus Ground going to
the connector which plugs into the PC-- don't know if there are any resistor
networks, etc. inside the connector.
The circuit board inside the Soundsource seems to be just an audio
amplifier with a few added components to handle the ON/OFF power control from
the computer. (There's a '386 amplier IC and a few transistors.) You could
probably convert it for use as an amplified speaker with an Apple II.
