Sure can, composite is composite. I have a composite color monitor for a
//e connected to the VCR I use for A/V work, with S-video going to the
Mac for quicktimes and the like. I've also used mono monitors for TV
screens, including a Monitor III. The slow phosphor on those dinosaurs
makes for a cool effect on video.
You can also do the reverse, sending the video output from a II into the
input on a tube or VCR for a poor man's color monitor.
