Hi,
  The battery may have died and changed all the settings back to standards. I
would change the the settings on slot 3 , and slot 7 from the control pannel.
Then with  out shutting the power off  do a warm reboot.

You may also have to change the speed form fast to normal from the control
pannel. I do not know how everything was set up, any manuals or other
information may be helpful.

These disks maybe copy protected, this maybe the reasons for the errors. Try
these disks on another Apple system, as the drives maybe out of allignment, or
dirty. The drives maybe dirty since they were in a work enviorment with dust.

The IIgs CPU should also be cleaned ( power off unplunged), The chips reseated
by pressing on them, to make sure they are seated right (POWER OFF UNPLUNGED &
discharge any static you have before touching). The same goes for both cards.
Try cleaning the edges and reseating the cards.
