The IIgs has a built in serial port, so you should be able to like the IIgs
to your PC using a mac modem cable (probably one designed for hardware
handshanking).  You may, or may not, need a null modem adapter.  Linux will
probably be the best host for the IIgs, because it will offer the most
control.  Kermit or MMGR are probably the better free terminal emulators
for the Apple II.  If you are using Kermit on the Apple II, make sure that
you have Kermit on the Linux box as well.  While this is not required for
using your IIgs as a terminal, it will be useful in transfering files.
Likewise, if you choose MMGR, try installing the rz/sz package on the Linux
box.
