Hi. She needs to disconnect the battery to wipe the battery
RAM. If she has a ROM 3, this is easy. If she has ROM 01
machines, it is harder because the battery is soldered.
Does anyone know how to siphon power from a connected
battery so that the IIGS battery RAM loses power long
enough to erase the virus? A short circuit might do it, but
I would not recommend it since the battery might explode.
There's got to be another way.
You can forward this message to her, but if she has
ROM 01 units, I suspect this is not the answer she is
looking for. Good luck!
She could always cut the battery leads and remove the
battery entirely, but then the IIGS would not longer
remember control panel settings or time. If she wanted
those functions restored, she'd need to reconnect the
battery.
