I might be incorrect.  One question though: will the
external rendering option print graphics?  If so,
that means external rendering is a lot like
Postscript.  Straight PCL rather than Postscript,
but the concept is the same.

This is indeed faster than sending pixel data, but
if you take a look at a Postscript file generated by
the IIGS LaserWriter driver, it adds a LOT of info
to specify formatting and whatnot (and the PS
data to draw graphics if graphics are included) to
the file increasing its size and slowing down
transfer relative to a pure ASCII file like from AW
Classic.  I suspect an external rendered PCL
data stream is similar in this way.

That's why I still think Harmonie external render
speed is not the same as AW Classic speed.

I could be wrong though.  ;-)
