Re: parallel card
Michael - Harmonie merely provides GS/OS based printer drivers for high
quality HP printers. So, in a sense, all Harmonie does is allow you to
print what is on screen. But, if it's a graphic that looks terrible on
screen, it's still going to look terrible when printed on your HP LJ 4MP
;-)
As SuperTimer (who _is_ that masked man?) says, Harmonie is only part of the
solution. I agree with him 100% that the other part of the formula is
Pointless. When using TrueType fonts, you'll never ever get the 'jaggies'
and every document you print from GS/OS that has text will look beautiful.
That said, you don't really _need_ Pointless. You can continue to use Bit
Mapped fonts. In order for those to look good, you must have a variety of
point sizes installed. So, if you were wanting to print in a 12 point
Garamond, for example, you'd need to have Garamond.12 and Garamond.48
installed. If you have the 48 point font installed, the documement will
look great. But, if you don't, the GS will resize the 12 point but it
won't do a very good job and you'll get the jaggies. Even on your
LaserJet.
Pointless means you'll never have to concern yourself with fonts, except
for collecting more and more TrueTypes ;-)
The cost of Harmonie is $20.
