fuzzy/blurry monitor

Two days ago the lcd monitor on my g3 powerbook went "fuzzy".

The fonts look like they are "dripping" and the colours on web sites etc and
jpeg files are strangely destorted.

Any clue?

has the video card gone?
Monitor gone?
