Nah. Here's my career path.

As for being a consultant, I have no problem with the role, but it's a 
bit of fancy word. I tend to view the role to be similar to a self employed
plumber or car mechanic.

Get hired to do a job, do the job well, get paid. (Not neccessarily in that
order.)
