The original Apple IIe had an older CPU and less capable
video ROM.  The IIc had a better CPU and video ROM.

The Apple IIe Enhanced is simply a IIe with a IIc type
CPU and video ROM (and usually bundled with a 64k
Extended 80 column card to match IIc video and RAM).

The Platinum IIe is a newer IIe design with fewer chips,
more compact extended 80 column card, and a
numeric keypad.  The original idea was to make a IIe
that was better equipped for the IIGS upgrade kit, but
the Platinum IIe long outlived that upgrade kit.
