Re: Apple II - how much is it worth?

I still repeatedly slap myself...the last day I was moving (around august
or september last year) I happened to stop by a garage sale. This woman
had a IIgs, ImageWriter II, Apple Color Monitor, and extra disk drives,
all in the original boxes and in decent condition, with a huge box of
software (a lot of which still had the boxes and manuals). She wanted
something like $50 or $60 for all of it (I think. I know it was just
between reasonable and unreasonable in my mind). I was already getting
hassled by my parents because of 'all the other computer stuff I have' (I
filled like half of the u-haul we rented just with my stuff) and on top of
it, I didn't have any money on me. My mom offered to loan me the money
(she knew I was really bummed about leaving and was trying to compensate,
she was the one who told me about seeing some 'apple stuff' when she had
been out that morning, she knows how I look for old apple stuff (like my
eternal quest for a lisa)) but at the time I told myself that I 'didn't
really need it' since I had just spent the previous evening and that
morning moving boxes and boxes and boxes of all my stuff, and I knew that
I'd hear about it if I started buying more boxes of stuff to move. I did
sort of want it, but it seemed like excess money and on top of it, it
would be an extra amount of stuff to move. So, I didn't get it. I had
peeked inside to see what cards it had, looked to see what games there was
(she wanted to sell it all in one clump), and thought 'why would I need
another, just because it is all in boxes, it's just your basic IIgs'. Now
I know that even if I had not found a use for it and tired of hanging onto
it, I could have at the very least found an eager and waiting collector to
pass it on to. I had never thought the Apple II series was so collectible
before I started frequenting here. Ah well. There's always that incident
you look back on and feel stupid about. I just have more than others.
