Certain versions of Copy II+ will simply give you an error if you try
to do anything with an extended file. Other versions won't and will
end up giving you garbage copies if you try to duplicate extended
files.
However, I don't think rename will lose the resource fork. If you are
using a version of Copy II+ that doesn't give you an error when you
try to access an extended file, it should only be modifying the name
of the file and not touching the storage type at all. This function
could have been left in but when they added code to disallow access to
extended files, they made it so you couldn't do anything with extended
files. By the way, even the latest BASIC.SYSTEM won't allow you to
rename an extended file.
Copy, on the other hand, might copy the right number of blocks but I
doubt any of the blocks copied will actually be from either the data
or resource fork. If they are, it is merely a very big coincidence.
