If this just happened 'out of the blue', the odds are pretty good that
some socketted IC has pins which are not making good contact or, maybe, an
80-col card is not making good contact in its Slot.
A better guess at the source of the problem would depend on whether your
IIe just has a messed up display-- i.e. you can still type something and
programs seem to respond-- or, your IIe has actually crashed and doesn't
respond at all.
With everything turned OFF, remove the cover and dust out the interior.
Try scooching up and re-socketting each IC in a socket on the motherboard. Pull
your 80-col card and do the same with any IC's in sockets there. Also, clean
the 80-col card connectors with an alcohol wipe.
