The main difference: the Laser 128EX can run at 3.6Mhz and
it can run IIGS style daisy chain 3.5" external drives (try it).

The annoying thing about the EX is that it boots up in 1Mhz
mode, unlike the ZipChips, the TransWarps, Franklin 2200,
Apple IIc Plus, or Laser 128EX/2.

To get it to run at the fast speed, you have to hold down the
"3" key while turning on the power (or while doing a control
reset).
