Re: disk transfer methods

WAU| : ProTERM 3.1 is faster than ADT. On a IIGS, you can transfer
    | : at 56k (that's 56,000 baud!) and besides, it has Zmodem for

No, that's 57,600 bits per second. :)

WAU| True, but the original request was to transfer diskettes from a
    | IIe. Even assuming that a hard drive was available (or a
    | sufficently large RAM disk, or 3.5" floppy drive to store enough
    | files/images on) you would first have to copy everything over to
    | that medium, download them to their own directories on the PC.

And then there's speed.... the SSC in a //e will go 19,200 bits per
second, or 112k/sec if you have a TurboASB.

My method of transfer is to link the Apple to the PC via two 25-pin
cables with a null modem block between (and for giggles an RS232 LED
indicator thingie too), run ProTerm on the Apple and Qmodem 4.3 on the
PC (launched into DOS; Windows in any form interferes and causes bail-
outs 64k into the transfer at high speed)... I'm shuffling at 56k.
