"Moose" O'Malley has maintained instructions to go to and from .NIB
disks.  If you search inside comp.sys.apple2 for "moose sst" (without
the quotes) you'll get the relevant hits.  Here is the link, which is
unlikely to come across Google groups correctly:

But you should understand that reconstituting .NIBs on a real Apple II
is a dicey affair.  You've asked about a specific solution - what
problem is it you're trying to solve?
