old prog hunt?

I am on a hunt for a old program labeled "Lexicon". It was primarily used
for making a record of writing but not under .txt or any current IBM PC type
file It was  used  for universities back in 80'-81'. I thought it might be a
OS but no luck. I am under a time limit and haven't been able to find much
of anything except a music program and more dictionaries than I care to
count. If anyone has a clue please let me in on it and if I need a emulator
to run it.
PS- the files I need to run are in this format on 31/2" disks.
