That is the joystick hookup for a second joystick. You need a certain type
of Joystick with a certain connector (or an adapter I suppose) I have only
seen one Joystick like that in my life.

The ball would need to be EXACTLY the right size. You can get a new mouse
at any store that carries macintosh parts, and you might be able to get a
rplacement ball from an old dead mouse, if they have a shop.
