Re: Macintosh 5 1/4" drive wanted
The DaynaFile and the Apple 5 1/4" drive for the Mac wouldn't read Apple II
disks. BUT...
Kennect Technology made two different 5 1/4" drives some years back that, when
coupled with the company's Rapport floppy-drive adapter, would read both PC-
and Apple II-formatted 5 1/4" disks. The adapter plugged into the Mac's
external floppy port (which means it won't work on current Macs), and either
drive plugged into the adapter.
There were two models, the 360 and the 1200. Both were advertised as able to
read 5 1/4" Apple ProDOS disks and 360K MS-DOS disks; the difference was that
the 1200 could also read high-density MS-DOS disks. I'm not sure how many of
each were made, but I've only seen one (a 360) in over 15 years of working with
Macs and Apple IIs.
