There used to be PosiTalker (Data Terminal Systems), I believe it had an Apple
version. It was intended for use in point of sale applications, so it had the
appropriate vocabulary for that application. Originally, it had a male Asian
voice, but later versions used a Hollywood actress for the voice to make it
more acceptable to the American market. DTS also used the same technology in
its cash registers at the time...
