True if you require flash then an iPad is not for you. Personally I don't know what I'm supposed to need flash for.I use my iPad mainly as an ebook reader. My wife loads her lecture notes on it when she goes to class and my kids use educational software and draw on it.
Considering it's at the same price point as a Disk II, only in 2011 dollars instead of 1978 dollars, I think it's quite reasonably priced.
