Powerbook 1400 Logicboard

Hi,
My logicboard is damaged; the Powerbook won't run off a battery. (Not
just my diagnosis; this was also confirmed by an Apple certified repair
center). It used to work on battery, but a sneeze or sudden move would
bring on a zebra striped sceen and a restart. Lately, it's completely
dead without an adapter. Why? Is the logicboard deteriorating? Is this
just going to get worse? I've already bought so many accessries for this
damn thing; I hate to give up on it.
