As one of the few remaining developers for the Apple II line, one of the
ones who advertises and supports most heavily, and also one of the ones with
the largest selection of products, I promise you the answer is, "No."  While
you might technically be able to make a living, it's not going to be a good
one.  I only know of one person left who is even trying, and that person is
primarily publishing a newsletter and selling off unsold commercial
software, not developing or enhancing new software.

I don't want to discourage anyone from releasing products.  It can be a lot
of fun, and you can certainly make enough money to support your computer
purchases, but please don't start a new Apple II based business with the
intent of quitting your day job! :)
