The drives and electronics on the 3.5 UniDisk are generally pretty rugged.
Of the two I'd tend to think the drive mechanism is the weakest part.
However the internal 800k Mac drives are a direct replacement.
Internal Mac drives are so common you should be able to find them for free.
The swap should be about a 10 minute job.
don't try using a superdrive mechanism, they aren't reliable even in 800k mod
in a Unidisk
