New shareware: Silvern Castle

GreetinGS,

At Kfest '99 last month, I had the opportunity to demo a new
role-playing game called Silvern Castle, a ProDOS 8 shareware title by
Jeff Fink.

Jeff the Author is a longtime subscriber to Juiced.GS, and he wrote me
shortly before Kfest asking if I'd be interested in showing the game to
Kfest '99 attendees. Of course, I was happy to oblige. So he sent me the
game on disk, and it was seen for the first time during the Saturday
morning demo session.

Jeff wrote the game in Applesoft BASIC, and he did a marvelous job. At
first glance, Silvern Castle appears to be a Wizardry clone, but there
is much more under the hood once you get into the game.

Silvern Castle has been available for about a week in the Delphi A2
library. For those who are not paying customers on Delphi, and can
therefore not access the library, the game is also available online at
the Trenco Apple II FTP/Web site.

Why don't you all scoot on over to Trenco, download the game and give it
a try. Here's the URL:

http://www.gno.org/pub/apple2/prodos/games/role.playing

The name of the archive is Silvcastle.SHK ....

Please note that Silvern Castle is shareware ($15). If you like the game
and intend to keep playing it after a short evaluation period, the
proper thing to do is pay the shareware fee.

Jeff Fink is not yet online, but I'm encouraging him to get there.
Meanwhile, he tells me he also has several other never-before-seen
software titles that he wants to share with the Apple II world. He's now
in the process of finishing the documentation.

Enjoy the game!
