If you just got your IIgs the odds are you do not have a telecom program for
the GS. (If you do have one, a standard NULL modem connection will let you transfer
all sorts of files, including disk images. See
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2T1TCOM.html .)
Assuming you have a way to boot DOS 3.3, you can do disk transfers using
ap2222pc; but, that requires making a special cable.
ADT lets you use a modem cable plus a NULL modem connector or cable to connect
to a PC modem cable or directly to the PC serial port. The catch here is that
standard versions of ADT require a Super Serial Card or a port (or card) which is
hardware compatible with SSC. The built-in IIgs serial ports are not hardware
compatible with SSC.
If you have a Super Serial Card, you can plug it into a IIgs Slot-- usually
Slot 2-- and, in the Control Panel, go to Slots and set Slot 2 to "Your Card".
(Press OpenApple-Control-Esc to get to the Desk Accessories menu; select Control
Panel.) You may need to shut down the computer and turn it ON again for the new
"Your Card" setting to 'take'.
If you do not have an SSC, you could try a beta version of a ADT for IIgs
which uses the built-in IIgs modem serial port. So far it supports only PC-->IIgs
transfers.
