I suggest the Focus hardcard from http://www.allelec.com/ Alltech
Electronics.  Consider that disks for the IIe with PD and Shareware
software are usually $5 each.  Then consider that the cost of a
500MB Focus card from Alltech is just about the cost of a dozen
disks.  Finally, consider that the Focus drive has a ton of shareware
and freeware on it.

In one fell swoop, you get the OS, a hard drive, and lots of software.
You may never again need to buy anything else for your IIe.
