Well, I have not personally tried it since I have enough Platinums to bury
myself in, but the reason given by Apple was that (and this is from
memory, so sorry if the info sounds...shaky) but evidently the Disk ][
connector has one pin that is either different or (perhaps unused?) on the
later 5.25s...the IIe card does not supply power to that pin and thus the
disk ][ does not work...I want to say it's +5v, but I know I'm
wrong...I'll dig up the actual source and quote it a bit later, once I
find it...
