Help with bad ][gs's

I remember drooling over ][gs's back when they came out, but I could
never afford one. Now, I was just given a few from a friend who had them
on a palette of old mac stuff he bought at an auction.
	When I try to boot these up, they just send out about two or three
"bong" like sounds. (none work) Are these totally toast, or is this a
common and fixable problem? They all have ram cards with 256k to 1mb on
each, and no other cards.
	Any help would be greatly appreciated.
