Apple ][c to PC Disk Transfer
After playing around with a Trackstar 128 card on my PC - and not having
as much success with it as I hoped - I am buying an Apple ][c tonight to
transfer a whole heap of disks to my PC over the weekend for use with
emulators - some of these disks are not on Asimov or the versions I have
are different from those on Asimov - and there should also be quite a
few programs I wrote in 1980-1984 and quite a few BASIC / assembler
programs my brother and I typed in from magazines.
I have had a very quick look at the readme files in :
- senddisk.zip
- adt121.zip
- ap2222pc.zip
- a2pctr11.zip
Before going further, I would like to ask opinions on what people would
recommend.
Here's what I have :
- Pentium-100, Serial / Parallel ports, 3.5 inch disk, 5.25 inch disk
(1.2 MB), etc.
- 486-DX-33, Serial / Parallel ports, 3.5 inch disk, 5.25 inch disk (1.2
MB), etc
- Apple ][c, serial card (linked to a old printer), monitor.
- Trackstar 128 card for the PC - not functioning properly possibly
needs 360 KB floppy drives on my PC.
- Laplink serial connector cable - for PC to PC transfer - will this
connect to the ][c ?
Some programs (e.g. ADT) require you to run a comms program on the PC to
install some parts of the transfer program on the Apple ][. I think I
still have a real old version of ProCom on the PC somewhere as well, if
not would Windows Terminal work to do this ?
I have also read that at least one of these programs isn't appropriate
for the ][c as it needs a game port.
Given that I want to transfer some DOS 3.3 *and* some copy-protected
Apple ][ disks, and do as little soldering and hacking as possible, what
transfer program do people recommend for use with my setup ?
Any hints/ tips ?
I will be transferring about 40-50 double sided disks this weekend -
most are on Asimov but some are not. So if all goes well, keep your
eyes open for some new stuff on Asimov early next week.
Long live the Apple ][ !
