Bill Shuff did a II Alive article on making your own Zip-GS cable. He
may be interested in selling you one. (His last email address for a Csa2
posting seems to be bill2060@cris.com from 1997. Perhaps someone here has a
more recent email address.) Or, you can make your own cable using ribbon
cable and press-on connectors.
As far as I know, no one does Zip-GS repairs on any sort of regular
basis. You could post an ad about wanting repairs on
comp.sys.apple2.marketplace.
The version 1.00 and 1.01 Zip boards were supposed to be sent in for a
free upgrade by the manufacturer. Posts by Mitch Spector and Supertimer
indicate that the problem is with handling Direct Memeory Access. Evidently,
the un-upgraded 1.00 and 1.01 boards work okay with SCSI interfaces, etc. if
you turn OFF DMA access for the particular interface-- not sure about that,
though.
Someone who owns (or owned) a v1.01 board would know a lot more about
the IC's it uses and getting one to work. There is some information in the
FAQs (file Csa2ACCEL.txt) about DIP switch settings, ...-- which may be
helpful:
