Apple II software poll

Hiya,

I'm taking a simple poll on what are the best software titles that are/were
available for the Apple II.  You can just name your favorite game or give a
wide assortment of titles.

If you go the "big list" route, please follow this criteria.  It will keep
me from going crazy and will help you make wise choices :)

1) if a title is IIgs specific, that is, will only run on the GS, please say
so.  a simple "GS" tag will do.

2) choose titles for the following catagories:

GAMES: ARCADE/ACTION

GAMES: ADVENTURE/ROLE PLAYING

GAMES: STRATEGY

GAMES: EDUCATIONAL(most educational software was geared toward children and
was in the form of games.  There may be non-game educational software, but
that can go here)

HOME/BUSINESS APPLICATIONS: WORD PROCESSORS

HOME/BUSINESS APPLICATIONS:SPREADSHEETS

HOME/BUSINESS APPLICATIONS:DATA BASE

SYSTEM UTILITIES: OPERATING SYSTEMS

SYSTEM UTILITIES: PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES

SYSTEM UTILITIES: COMMUNICATION

SYSTEM UTILITIES: SOFTWARE MANAGMENT

SYSTEM UTILITIES: GRAPHICS MANIPULATION

OTHER (I'm pretty confident any program could fit into the above catagories
with a little logic stretching.  If you like a program that you really don't
think fits anywhere else, then put it here.  If a piece of software fits
under one of the general catagories above, but not the more specific
catagories, feel free to create your own "OTHER" subcatagory e.g GAMES:
OTHER.  I'm not expecting too many to go here.)


3) try to limit yourself to no more than 5 per catagory.  Putting together a
top 10 can be too much for some (I tend to crap out at 7-8) but choosing
just one favorite can be tough.  Three would be ideal, one main choice and
two alternates, but five can allow everyone to put in most of their
favorites.

4) feel free to describe the software (I encourage this, actually) and
explain why you like it so much.  Give a brief list of the outstanding
features, etc.

The watchword here is brief.  If you start to go over 100 words, you're
probably going too far.

I am posting this poll on all of the newsgroups that have "apple2" in their
title, so it may not always be appropriate (such as on binaries groups.)
Therefore, feel free to contact me directly with your selections.  My e-mail
address is below.  The quotes and the thing in quotes is a SPAMblock.  I
trust most here can figure it out :)
