Re: IIc data xfer to mac
There's a FAQ on transferring files between computers via null modem cable at
http://apple.cabi.net/pub/applegs/FAQs.and.INFO/A2.Csa2.FAQs/Csa2T1TCOM.txt
It'll explain that better than I can.
The "later" model IIc can use a what's called a 3.5 undies drive but those
aren't overly common. A IIgs would be a good way of transferring files from
5.25 to 3.5 disks. A standard IIgs can use both a 5.25 inch and a 800k 3.5 inch
drive and a Mac will read those 3.5 disks.
A Mac with a file translator like Mac Link plus can read a large number of
Apple II formats, however there were a number of oddball programs and
formats used.
What program these records were made with is an important question. With
some program file conversion'd be a snap while a few would be extremely
awkward.
Another important question is what does 3000 records mean? If it's only a few
disks then I'd suggest if there's a Mac or Apple II user group in the vicinity
asking
someone there to transfer the files. On the other extreme if it's 3000 disks
then I'd
be looking for a IIgs.
If possible tell us the program and version used on the IIc and how many disks
these records are on, also what version of MacOS might be useful too.
