The 6116 is usually a 2Kx8 static RAM, so this card has 10KB RAM, which
seems like a rather odd amount.  The chip I'm thinking of has 24 pins
and is half an inch wide (the same width as most ROMs and EPROMs, twice
as wide as standard 74LSxxx logic chips).

Yes, that would help.  You can ignore any plain TTL logic chips for now
(74LSxxx series), but there could be other chips which are more
interesting.
