The emulation card is called the Trackstar.  There were II+ and
IIe versions.  The advantage over a software emulator is that the
Trackstar, at least in the form that it was originally sold, enabled
the PC 5.25" drive to read and write Apple II disks.

Electronics will provide you with one if you tell them what you
want to do.

Incidentally, there was also the reverse of the Trackstar, called
the PC Transporter.  It was a Turbo XT on a Card emulator for
the IIe.  If you find one of these, you can save to PC disks on the
IIe and run old MS-DOS programs too.
