Technically, comp.sys.apple2 is an Apple II (not a PC or Mac) newsgroup. You
should be able to get expert help on a Mac newsgroup such as comp.sys.mac.system.
If you are sure the CD-ROM drive is a SCSI drive (not IDE), then, one
possible reason (besides lack of termination) a new SCSI CD-ROM drive may work on
a PC but not function on a Mac is that the SCSI ID# is already taken on the Mac.
Each device on the SCSI chain has its own unique Identification number,
normally in the range 0-7. The ID# is usually set via a thumbwheel or slide switch
on the back somewhere. Try changing the ID# to something lower, like 1 or 2. (You
should do this before powering ON the Mac.)
