P.S. What happened to the Ground FTP site?

It was taken down some time ago, but an archive of Ground's contents
(as of 2005) can be found at Asimov:

I want my $100 back that I donated for the 1Gb hard drive then! :-P

Hmm... Would you take back what 1GB is worth today--say about
ten cents? ;-)

Perhaps less, since I just purchased a 2-Terabyte drive for $90. LOL
Can you even get a 1GB hard drive anymore? :o)

My contribution was only part of the purchase price. I remember it being about $1000. I'm sure there's probably some mention of it in the c.s.a2 archives.

Yes, I remember reading about it a few months after it happened--using
a Unix workstation IIRC. ;-)
