The Apple IIGS ADB Keyboard Lives!

The Apple IIGS ADB Keyboard was the world's first
ADB keyboard and still is the most beautiful. We
all thought this keyboard died with the IIGS, but I've
recently discovered what REALLY happened to it.

Apple Computers, Inc. sold the design to DataDesk,
which then improved it, adding a set of function keys
along the top border. The result is the Lil' BigBoard.

If you get a chance to visit DataDesk's web site or
to see a Lil' BigBoard at a computer store, examine
the keyboard closely. It looks and feels exactly like
a IIGS keyboard except for the extra function keys
and the fact that the function keys and modifier keys
are colored.

It is also worthwhile to look at the "faux keys" design
between the numeric keypad and the main key panel.
The etched fake keycaps are exactly like those on
the IIGS keyboard. No doubt DataDesk started with
the exact IIGS keyboard and made it extended by
adding function keys.
