Finally got a IIgs working!
A while back I asked for and got a new ROM image to upgrade an old Rev-A
SCSI card, and trying it didn't make any difference.
Well, recently I found, at a Goodwill store, a ROM 1 IIgs with a Woz lid,
a Transwarp, and a sandwich of a GS RAM, a GS RAM Plus, and a Ramkeeper
card, all for $10. (That's right, ten dollars US.) Last night I managed
to get it working with the SCSI card and then to mount an Appleshare
volume. Maybe part of my problem was a bad SCSI cable, or maybe it was a
bad RAM card, or maybe not enough RAM, but I got the SCSI card working
almost immediately.
And the GS RAM Plus card only has one bank of chips on it, so I can still
cram a lot more in.
Many thanks to dempson@actrix.gen.nz (David Empson) and David Wilson
<david@uow.edu.au> for the SCSI ROM image.
