I'm not sure it works with XGS, probably due to the way it emulates the
SmartPort (ie. the "drives" seem to work more like the IIe's and hang
instead of going to the "bouncing apple," hence no "Apple II" sound).

Instead, try loading the ROM 3 file into a sound editor on your PC.
You should see sound data inside.

Again, XGS leaves A LOT to be desired in an emulator.  If you want
an emulator the is more like the real IIGS, try Bernie (requires a
PowerMac).  Or even better, get the real thing.  ;-)
