Re: Apple //c+ questions....
->Right. You need something like the Transwarp IIe or the
TransWarp II or TransWarp III cards. Then you'd need to
overclock those cards with new oscillators. Maybe you'd
need faster RAM on the accelerators too.
The exception is the IIc Plus. Because the IIc Plus has
a separate oscillator just for the CPU separate from the
oscillator that provides timing to the rest of the IIc Plus
motherboard, you can accelerate it just by dropping in
the 14Mhz unit and changing the oscillator that clocks the
CPU.
NOW that is interesting! Both the part about the IIe and IIc+. I have both,
but have thought that the only way that I could accelerate them was with a
ZIPchip.
I haven't been too please with the ZIPchip (8x). Several of my favorite
programs that use/need a mouse don't work with the chip installed on the IIe.
I've had better luck with the Transwarp (I), but it's still a bit weird from
time to time when making print outs to the ImageWriter II, so I keep the
monitor on the monitor shelf and pull the card when using programs that don't
like being accerated.
So, has anyone modified a Transwarp Card to scream on a IIe?
