Help Identify This Odd IIe
So, there I was, wandering through a Goodwill store's electronic section
looking for bits of nostalgia when I saw this IIe. Normally, I just pass them
by. Lots of IIes show up in Goodwill stores. But this one. It's odd.
First of all, it's and unenhanced Revision B. That's obvious. No mousetext
characters.
But, the keyboard has white letters. I haven't seen one of these since 1982 or
83.
And wierder about the keyboard, the keys have additional printing on them:
1: Delete Line
2: Delete (paragraph symbol)
4: Move / Copy
5: B Store / B Load
6: B Store & Del
7: Block Delete
9: Find
0: Change
-: Auto Change
Q: Delete Char
W: Delete Word
R: Transmit Line
T: Typewriter
Y: Typing L. Mar.
O: Display
P: Print
V: Tabs / Help
B: Replace / Insert
M: Goto Menu
I know what you're thinking. These are stickers. I thought so too. But
closer examination has revealed that the keys are PRINTED on the fronts this
way.
You want even weirder? The keybaord cable is on a daughterboard with the word
"Quark" on it. The daughterboard not only jumpers the keyboard jack, It
jumpers the LS251 chip with a different chip: T74LS251B1 88041.
You know, I had to buy it and bring it home. (Of course!) No Apple stickers
are on the power supply or the bottom of the unit. The system does have a
super serial card and a pair of really old Apple disk ][s attached.
My limited research hasn't shown me any amazing things other than it operates
just like I think it should. Hummm... So, I'm asking for help. Anyone know
what's going on with this IIe?
